Wellington Surgical Specialist
Wicks grew up in Wellington and went to secondary school at Scots College in Seatoun, Wellington. He completed his medical training and PhD at the University of Otago.
He trained as a General Surgeon in New Zealand and completed his general surgical training, receiving his FRACS from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2001. He undertook a further 4 years of specialist training in New Zealand and the UK in the areas of obesity surgery, oesophageal (foodpipe) and stomach surgery, and liver and pancreatic surgery.
Wicks has been a Wellington Surgical Specialist at the Wellington Regional Hospital (CCDHB) since 2006. He is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Otago and is actively involved in teaching medical students at the Wellington Clinical School of Medicine.
